Ready to share your experiences as a trans person? We'd love to share your story.
Here's some additional information on the program:
We're currently only doing in-person interviews for trans people in the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) region. Don't worry--if you're outside of that area, we can do a virtual interview!
Any person who considers themselves trans is welcome to sign up for an interview. This includes but is by no means limited to folks who identify as transwomen, transmen, nonbinary, two-spirit, gender nonconforming, genderqueer, agender, bigender, demiboys, demigirls, and pretty much anything else.
We're particularly interested in hearing stories from people of color, people with disabilities/chronic illnesses, neurodivergent people, and current or former SWers.
Your story is completely in your control. If you're uncomfortable answering a question, we can talk about something else. You will also have the opportunity to redact portions of your interview if necessary.
If you're feeling compelled to share your story, let's get started! Fill out the form below and we'll send you an email in the near future to get something set up.
Note: We're running a little behind on setting up interviews. If you don't hear from us right away, we promise we haven't forgotten about you!
These interviews can go as long or as short as you'd like. I'm starting by scheduling an hour each, but we can always do a second session if you feel you need more time to make sure your story is heard in its entirety and accurately.
If you make a mistake during your interview, no worries! Just let me know. No pressure--speak your mind and we'll only include what you'd like to include, and edit out the rest.
These interviews be featured on this website and on The Trans Guide podcast. If you'd like to discuss options for keeping your story anonymous or using an alias, we can definitely talk through that.
You have complete control over what we talk about, but general themes we might want to touch on include:
Your personal history
When you first realized you were trans
If/when you decided to come out to people in your life
Your experience as a trans person living in your geographic region
What you believe the future holds for trans people
I'd love to include photography in this project. If you're comfortable with it, please send some of your favorite pictures of yourself after the interview.
